On this occasion it wasn’t the offspring of our zoo animals that we welcomed! This was over 500 cub scouts who visited the park to celebrate an amazing 100 years of the scout movement!

CUBS 100, a nationwide celebration to recognise its 100th birthday, chose Flamingo Land to enjoy a packed day of ceremonial duties as well as spending time with the animals in our zoo, a special sea lion show, festive activities and our Christmas Market.

“Seeing over 500 cub scouts enjoy a day at the park was truly special and we were delighted to welcome them,” said Sarah Mills Director of Marketing Flamingo Land Resort Yorkshire.

The Cubs created quite a talking point as they proudly paraded around the park in full uniform and then performed an unveiling ceremony of a 50 metre banner neckerchief at the Galleon Stage to honour the event. A Promise Renewal was undertaken in the Sea Lion Arena conducted by UK Deputy Commissioner Mark Tarry, before they enjoyed a Keeper Talk about the park’s sea lions.
