Family Ancestry Story Leads To Our Mansion House

We were delighted to welcome local lady Carole Proberts and her mum, Nancy Cantrill to afternoon tea recently after they discovered Nancy’s Great Aunt used to work at the old Kirby Misperton Hall, which is now our Mansion House.

Whilst tracing her family tree, Carole found that her mum’s Great Aunt, Eliza Winspear worked as a companion to the Twentyman children during the 1920’s and 30’s, and also accompanied the family on travels to China and America through Colonel J R Twentyman’s work as a tea merchant. Interestingly, Colonel J R Twentyman was also credited with designing the Chinese Gardens in Scarborough’s Peasholm Park.

The ground floor of the Hall has now been fully restored and forms part of our enhanced portfolio of facilities. It is home to an elegant Tea Room and Restaurant which is open for brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner as well as being an amazing venue for weddings and celebrations.

“We were so pleased that Carole got in touch with us, especially as we have completed the restoration of the Hall and Gate House as a holiday cottage this year,” said Sarah Mills our Director of Marketing. “It’s a great story and if anyone else has any family connections to the old Hall we would be delighted to hear from them.”

The Mansion House offers a delightful day time menu  and  evening menu and is also the perfect backdrop for  celebrations. To obtain further information or discuss your requirements call Stewart Marr on 01659 669479 or email [email protected]
