Investing In Our Future

We know that you love visiting us for a great day out in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside but behind the scenes, away from the animals and adventures, we have been working very hard to preserve our part of Yorkshire for future generations.

Over the last five years the team at Flamingo Land Resort Yorkshire, has been working with the Woodland Trust MOREwoods scheme to create natural woods and enhance the fabric of the park, by planting native tree species to develop and improve natural habitats within the park perimeter.

This meant that last week we planted our 10,000th tree – a really important occasion for everyone involved!

During the five years we’ve planted native species including Silver Birch, Alder, Oak, Hawthorn and Holly to create new woodlands, including our Jubilee Wood, as well as to develop natural habitats in other areas of the park.

So, as the years tick by and our woodland matures, we look forward to attracting native species to our woods and surroundings.

This scheme has been supported by our Director of Conservation Science Dr Andrew R.Marshall, Woodland Trust, University of York CIRCLE research team (Centre for Integrated Research, Conservation and Learning) its volunteers, our volunteers and Flamingo Land gardeners.
