Set in 375 acres of picturesque North Yorkshire countryside, Flamingo Land Resort creates a truly unforgettable experience for Guests of all ages. As a member of our Chef Team, your role will be to prepare and cook fantastic tasting meals for our Guests to enjoy. We want all of our freshly prepared food to be served to a consistently high standard and it is your duty to ensure that this happens for every Guest, every time.  Your role as a Chef: 
  • Ensuring that a high standard of cleanliness both in the kitchen, service areas and front of house is maintained
  • Assisting in the deep cleaning of your restaurant on a regular basis to ensure that our 5* Food Hygiene status is retained
  • Using imagination, creative design, knowledge and research of customer trends, requirements and expectations to design and implement new dishes on your menu 
  • Stock Management – Rotating stock on a First In First Out basis, ordering of stock and replenishing of stock levels to ensure 100% menu availability and performing accurate stock counts on a regular basis 
  • Team Member management as required 
  • To ensure that all pre-service, mid-service and end of service checks are completed and documented
  • To ensure that all company standards of food production are met and that all food is produced to the agreed specifications 
  • Work within all HACCP, COSHH and HSE regulations at all times 
  • Monitor and control wastage levels 
  • Ensure that allergen policies and legislation is strictly adhered to and documented appropriately 
  • Managing kitchen budgets and striving to reach and exceed financial and performance based targets 
  • To ensure that all kitchen due diligence is completed and signed off by a senior Team Member or management 
  • Report any faults or issues to senior members of the team 
  • To assist in the training of kitchen staff
  • Demonstrating effective leadership skills when required 
  • Adopting a ‘clean as you go’ method of working
  • Ensuring that all paperwork and documentation is filled in and filed accordingly
  • Attending any training courses provide by or requested by the company 
  • Adhering to any reasonable request by management
Hours: Most of our seasonal roles are available on a full time and part time basis. Typically a full time role is up to 40 hours a week, our part time roles are often 16 to 24 hours a week in term times increasing during university, college and school holidays. Our busiest trading days are weekends, holidays and bank holidays therefore it is to be expected we will need our Team to be available to ensure our Guests have the experience they deserve. Transport: We provide on site free parking. There are good local bus links into Malton, York, Pickering & Thornton Dale provided by Coastliner. The Tees Valley bus will have stops at Stockton, Middlesbrough, Grangetown, Redcar, Saltburn, Brotton, Skelton & Guisborough. Accommodation: There is a good range of local accommodation providers within our immediate vicinity.  Flamingo Land does not provide any onsite staff accommodation. Benefits:

Interviews for the new season will begin in February 2025.  You will be contacted by our friendly Recruitment Team who will conduct an initial telephone chat with you and if successful, you will be invited to attend a face to face interview with one of our Department Managers.  Interviews are typically 30 minutes and you will be asked a few competency based questions.   If all goes well, you will join us  for two days of induction, where we will get you Resort Ready!    Induction days are fun filled, full of facts about the Resort and will prepare you to work at the Resort. Roles will begin in March and run through until 2 November 2025.
